Everest Panorama Trek
Everest views from Hotel Everest View
Tengboche Monastery
Sherpa village of Khumjung
Namche Bazaar market town
The Everest Panorama Trek is the perfect way to see Mount Everest without committing to the long, high trek to base camp. In just over a week you fly to Lukla, walk the famous Dudh Koshi trail to Namche Bazaar and continue to Tengboche, all while staying below 4,000 m.
Despite the modest altitude, the views are world class. From the ridge above Namche, the famous Tengboche Monastery and the village of Khumjung, you look straight up the valley to Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse, with the elegant spire of Ama Dablam and the peaks of Thamserku and Kangtega close by.
Along the way you experience Sherpa culture at its richest: the bustling market town of Namche, prayer ceremonies at Tengboche and the stone houses, potato fields and Hillary School of Khumjung. Nights are spent in comfortable teahouse lodges, with warm dining rooms and hearty Nepali meals.
With shorter walking days and a gentle maximum altitude, this trek suits families, first-time trekkers and anyone short on time. The Elevate Trek team arranges your flights, permits, guide and porters so you can simply enjoy the mountains.

Itinerary
A gentle 10-day loop from Lukla to Namche Bazaar, Tengboche and Khumjung, with Kathmandu arrival and departure days.
Fly to Lukla, Trek to Phakding
An early mountain flight takes you to the small airstrip of Lukla (2,860 m), perched on a hillside above the Dudh Koshi. In spring and autumn, Lukla flights often depart from Ramechhap, around 4 hours’ drive from Kathmandu. After meeting your porters, you walk gently downhill through Chaurikharka and Ghat, passing mani walls and prayer wheels, to the riverside village of Phakding.

Trek to Namche Bazaar
Follow the Dudh Koshi upstream through Benkar and Monjo, where you enter Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing the high Hillary Bridge, the trail climbs steadily through pine forest, with a first view of Everest from a viewpoint on the way up if the weather is clear. Namche Bazaar (3,440 m) is the lively Sherpa capital, full of cafes, bakeries and shops.

Acclimatisation Day: Hotel Everest View
Spend a second night in Namche to help your body adjust. In the morning hike up past the Syangboche airstrip to Hotel Everest View (3,880 m), the highest point of the trek, where you can enjoy tea on the terrace facing Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Return to Namche for lunch, then visit the Sherpa Culture Museum or wander the Saturday market if your visit coincides.

Trek to Tengboche
A beautiful contour path high above the Dudh Koshi leads towards Kyangjuma, with Ama Dablam straight ahead. The trail then drops through forest to Phunki Thanga before a steady climb to Tengboche (3,860 m). The monastery here is the largest in the Khumbu, and its afternoon prayers are a memorable experience. The sunset on Everest and Ama Dablam from the monastery grounds is superb.

Trek to Khumjung
Wake early for sunrise over the Himalaya from Tengboche, then retrace your steps to Phunki Thanga and climb to Sanasa. Instead of returning straight to Namche, you branch uphill to Khumjung (3,780 m), one of the largest Sherpa villages in the region. Visit the Hillary School and the Khumjung Monastery, said to hold a yeti scalp, and stroll among the green-roofed stone houses and potato fields beneath the sacred peak of Khumbila.

After a relaxed breakfast, walk down through Syangboche to Namche Bazaar for a last coffee and bakery stop, then descend the steep hill to the Hillary Bridge. Follow the Dudh Koshi back through Monjo and Benkar to Phakding, where the thicker air and riverside setting make for a comfortable night.

FAQs
Answers to the questions travellers ask us most about this trip.
How difficult is the Everest Panorama Trek?
It is an easy to moderate trek. Days are 3 to 7 hours with some steep climbs, especially up to Namche and Tengboche. No previous trekking experience is required, but reasonable fitness makes it far more enjoyable.
Is altitude sickness a risk?
The risk is low but not zero, since you sleep at up to 3,860 m. The itinerary includes an acclimatisation day in Namche, and your guide will monitor you throughout.
Is this trek suitable for children and older travellers?
Yes. It is one of the best Everest region treks for families and active older travellers. We can adjust the pace or add extra rest days on request.
What permits do I need?
The Sagarmatha National Park permit and the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit. The TIMS card is not required in the Khumbu. Both permits are included.
When is the best time for this trek?
March to May and late September to December. Thanks to the lower altitude, early winter is also pleasant, with clear skies and cold nights.
What happens if my Lukla flight is delayed?
Mountain weather can delay flights. Day 9 includes a buffer before your departure, and we recommend not booking your international flight for the same day you fly back from Lukla.
