Everest Helicopter Tour
Landing at Kala Patthar (5,545 m)
Flyover of Everest Base Camp
Breakfast at Hotel Everest View
No trekking required
The Everest Helicopter Tour is the fastest way to stand face to face with the world’s highest mountain. In one unforgettable morning you fly from Kathmandu into the heart of the Khumbu, soar over Everest Base Camp and the Khumbu Glacier, and land at Kala Patthar (5,545 m), the classic viewpoint for Mount Everest.
The route follows the Dudh Koshi valley past Lukla, Namche Bazaar and Tengboche Monastery, with Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse and Pumori filling the windows. After a short photo stop at Kala Patthar, the helicopter descends to Hotel Everest View (3,880 m), where you enjoy breakfast on the terrace looking straight up the valley at Everest.
You are back in Kathmandu before lunch. There is no hiking involved, so the tour suits travellers of almost any age and fitness level, including those short on time or unable to trek. Because the high landing is brief, the risk of altitude sickness is low.
Flights operate on a shared or private basis in the morning, when visibility is best. The Elevate Trek team handles your hotel transfers, permits and flight coordination, so all you need to bring is a warm jacket and your camera.

FAQs
Answers to the questions travellers ask us most about this trip.
How long do we stay at Kala Patthar?
The stop is kept to around 10 minutes because of the high altitude. That is enough time for photos while keeping the risk of altitude sickness low.
Is it a shared or private flight?
You can join a shared flight, where seats are sold individually, or charter the whole helicopter privately for your group. Contact us for private charter rates.
How many people fit in the helicopter?
A helicopter carries up to 5 passengers at lower altitudes. At high altitude the load is reduced, so the group is flown up to Kala Patthar in smaller shuttles from Pheriche.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. If the pilot decides conditions are unsafe, the flight is postponed to the next suitable day. Please keep a spare day in your schedule.
What should I wear?
Temperatures at Kala Patthar can be well below freezing even on sunny days. Bring a warm down jacket, hat, gloves and sunglasses.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. Helicopters have strict weight limits, especially at altitude. Please tell us each passenger’s weight when booking.
