Ask our team
01

How high does the Mardi Himal trek go?

The highest overnight stop is High Camp at about 3,580 m. From there, an early-morning hike reaches the Upper Viewpoint at around 4,200 m or Mardi Himal Base Camp at roughly 4,500 m, before returning to sleep lower down.
02

How difficult is the Mardi Himal trek?

It is graded moderate. Trails are steep in places, particularly above High Camp, and the ridge can be exposed in wind or snow, but no technical skills are needed. A good level of fitness and some hiking experience will make it more enjoyable.
03

Which permits do I need for Mardi Himal?

Mardi Himal is in the Annapurna Conservation Area, so you need the ACAP permit (NPR 3,000 for foreign nationals) and a TIMS card. We arrange both in Pokhara.
04

How does Mardi Himal compare with Annapurna Base Camp?

Mardi Himal is shorter, quieter and follows an open ridge with constant views, while Annapurna Base Camp leads deep into the Annapurna Sanctuary surrounded by peaks. Both are excellent; Mardi Himal suits travellers with less time who want fewer crowds.
05

Can I trek Mardi Himal in winter?

Yes, with care. From December to February the upper ridge can be snowy and icy and some high lodges close, so we adjust the itinerary and may provide microspikes. Clear winter skies often reward you with superb views.
