How do I get from Kathmandu to Pokhara?

Domestic flights take about 25 minutes and run many times a day. By road, tourist buses and private cars take six to eight hours, depending on traffic and road works. Pokhara also has an international airport, opened in 2023, though most international travellers still arrive via Kathmandu.

What is the best time for paragliding in Pokhara?

The main flying season runs from about October to May, with October, November, March and April offering the best combination of clear views and stable thermals. Flights are limited during the June to September monsoon, and every flight depends on the weather on the day.

How many days should I spend in Pokhara?

Two to three days lets you enjoy a Sarangkot sunrise, a boat trip on Phewa Lake, the Peace Pagoda and one adventure activity. Many travellers add a rest day after their trek, as Pokhara is the natural place to unwind before returning to Kathmandu.

Can I do adventure activities with no experience?

Yes. Paragliding and ultralight flights are tandem, with a licensed pilot in control, and bungee, zipline and rafting operators provide full briefings and equipment. Each activity has its own age, weight and health limits, which we confirm when you book.

Is Pokhara a good base for short treks?

Excellent. Poon Hill, Ghandruk, Mardi Himal, the Australian Camp and the Panchase hills all start within one to two hours’ drive, so you can be on the trail the morning after arriving. Permits can be arranged at our Lakeside office.
