Everything you need to know before trekking to Ghorepani.

Ask our team
01

Where is Ghorepani?

Ghorepani is in the southern Annapurna region, about 50 km north-west of Pokhara as the crow flies. It sits at around 2,860 m on the main trail between Ulleri and Tadapani, within the Annapurna Conservation Area.
02

Which permits do I need for Ghorepani?

Ghorepani lies in the Annapurna Conservation Area, so you need the ACAP permit (NPR 3,000 for foreign nationals) and a TIMS card. We arrange both in Pokhara before you set off.
03

How long is the Ghorepani trek?

The classic Ghorepani and Ghandruk loop takes four to five days from Pokhara. Shorter three-day versions use a jeep to Ulleri or Ghandruk, while longer itineraries add Annapurna Base Camp or a rest day.
04

How difficult is the trek to Ghorepani?

It is graded easy to moderate. The climb from Tikhedhunga to Ulleri involves several thousand stone steps, so good knees and steady pacing help, but there is no technical terrain and the altitude stays below 3,300 m.
05

When do the rhododendrons bloom?

Rhododendrons around Ghorepani usually flower from mid-March to late April, with the exact timing depending on altitude and the season. Lower forests bloom first, and the higher slopes near Poon Hill follow.
