The Mardi Himal Trek is a delightful short-day expedition near Pokhara, Nepal, leading you to the stunning Mardi Himal which lies beneath the awe-inspiring Mt. Machapuchhre, also known as the fishtail mountain. Although the popularity of the Mardi Himal route has been steadily increasing, it still sees fewer visitors compared to well-known treks like Annapurna Base Camp and Everest Base Camp.
This trek unveils a picturesque path through verdant hills, enchanting oak and rhododendron forests, and valleys embraced by snow-capped peaks. Best Time to Visit Mardi Himal TrekÂ
Autumn is the most favorable season for the Mardi Himal Trek spanning the months of September, October, and November. However, this can be more crowded as it is the peak season for trekking in Nepal. Trekkers can opt for Spring which is another best season for Mardi Himal Trek encompassing the months of March, April, and May.

Namaste and Welcome to Pokhara
On the first day of our trek, we'll start early and drive to Kande. It takes around 2 hours to reach Kande. We'll start hiking a steep ascent up a staircase for 1 hour from Kande to Australian Base Camp. Australia Base Camp offers a panorama view of the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu range, and the lush green hills on clear days. After taking some time to relax and soak in the breathtaking views at Australian Base Camp, we will continue our trek to Forest Camp. The route is gentle and gradual ascent onwards. You can see beautiful Rhododendron throughout the forest and terraced farms along the trails. Your accommodation for the night will be in a teahouse at Pittam Deurali, which is a small village and a traditional route for Annapurna Base Camp.

After a delightful breakfast, we’ll trek to Low Camp. Today’s walk is for 5 hours and takes you through a moderately steep ascent out of the lush rhododendron forests. As you incline to Low Camp, you can have the incredible sight of Machapuchare and the Annapurna mountain range. Overnight stay in Low Camp.

After relaxing breakfast, we leave for High Camp, steadily ascending the entire way. Leaving behind the charm of Low Camp, our journey continues along the Mardi Himal Ridge, following a grassy path adorned with scattered rhododendron bushes. You'll be treated to unobstructed views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. As we approach High Camp, the splendid view of Annapurna South unfolds before our eyes. You'll settle for the night in High Camp. Keep in mind that at higher altitudes of 3,550m, the night can be considerably colder.

Today is the day we've been eagerly awaiting and congratulations on reaching this far. Set off early to watch the sunrise from the viewpoint. The trek begins with a steep incline, which is eventually easier. After 2 hours of walking, we’ll arrive at the Mardi Himal Base Camp viewpoint. From this spot, you can enjoy stunning vistas of Machhapuchhare (6,993), Patal Hiunchuli (6,441), Annapurna South (7,219 m) and Mardi Himal (5,587). We’ll take some time to relish the stunning views and capture these memorable moments. Following this, head back to High Camp for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we’ll follow the trek early in the morning to Siding Village. The downhill is steep most of the way. You can see rice terraces and beautiful rural farming landscapes on the way to the Siding village. We’ll have a short lunch break in this charming village. Afterward, we’ll drive back to Pokhara. On the way down, you can see amazing views of lovely waterfalls, local villages, suspension bridges, and rivers. Overnight at a Hotel in Pokhara.Â
