The optimal times for the ABC trek fall within the spring, featuring late February to May, and the enchanting autumn months of late September to early December.
During these magical periods, you’ll bask in great weather, with temperatures ranging from 19°C to a cool -9°C at the base camp. The pleasant daytime average of around 10 degrees ensures a comfortable journey. If you desire a delightful balance of excellent weather and fewer fellow trekkers on the trails, consider planning your adventure in February, September, or December.

The trailhead of ABC is conveniently reachable with a short and affordable bus ride from Pokhara. Namaste! Welcome to Pokhara !!
We will start our trek from the charming village of Ghandruk which is known for its vibrant Gurung heritage village. You'll be treated to stunning, up-close views of majestic Himalayan peaks like Annapurna, Hiunchuli, and the iconic Machapuchare. Chhomrong village is famous as a night stopover for trekkers heading to the Annapurna Sanctuary. To reach Chhomrong, we must hike, as there are no roads. After a day of hiking, and passing through beautiful rhododendron forests, we’ll reach Chhomrong village. You can see many shops selling trekking essentials, souvenirs, and a clean water station in this village. Stay overnight in a teahouse in Chhomrong.

After our breakfast, we will descend steps to the Chomrong River which is the powerhouse of glacial water. As we cross the suspension bridge, you can see many trekkers, donkeys, and porters on the trail. We will take a tea break at an upper lodge located in Sinuwa, where we can enjoy more splendid views. Continuing for another hour and a half, we will reach the Bamboo guest house. Stay overnight in a teahouse in Bamboo.

Today we will trek for five hours to reach Deurali. The initial trail led us through a bamboo forest. As we continue our journey, the path gradually ascends, featuring fewer steep sections. Past the point called Himalaya, you will get a challenging uphill climb through a drier forest. Our next milestone is Hinku Cave, which we’ll reach after this climb. From Hinku Cave, the trail descends closer to the river before once again leading us upwards toward Deurali. During this part of the trek, you’ll be treated to splendid views of the river below and the towering rock cliffs adorned with graceful waterfalls. Stay overnight in a teahouse in Deurali.

Following our breakfast, we’ll start our trek to ABC, for which we'll have to walk for 5-6 hours. The path from Deurali to Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC) is a bit steep, taking you through a rugged landscape. As you climb higher, you might feel the effects of the altitude. Upon reaching MBC, you'll be greeted by a magnificent Machhapuchhre and the entire Annapurna range. After that, we’ll proceed our way to Annapurna Base Camp. This part of the path goes over the rocky ground near the glacier, which can be a bit tricky to walk on. When we finally arrive at Annapurna Base Camp, you'll be treated to a breathtaking view of some of the world's tallest peaks, including Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and others. Get up early to witness the stunning sunrise over the Annapurna at the ABC. After that, we’ll make our way back down along the same trail to reach Bamboo. The trek from ABC to MBC takes you through rhododendrons and bamboo forests but can be quite challenging due to the big rocks. As you descend further, you'll encounter waterfalls and rocky terrain. It’ll take around 2 hours to reach Deurali. You can take a lunch break in the Himalayas and start descent until we reach Dovan. The trail from Dovan to Bamboo is quite straightforward. Stay overnight in a teahouse in Bamboo.

Today we’ll trek for 5 hours to reach Jhinu Danda. The trail from Bamboo to Sinuwa consists of ascending stairs creating a challenge. Once we cross the bridge, we’ll make our way to the checkpoint in Chhomrong. Following a series of narrow descending steps, we’ll finally reach Jhinu Danda. Upon arriving in Jhinu Danda, you can unwind in the soothing hot springs. Relaxation and rejuvenation at hot springs. Stay overnight in a teahouse in Jhinu Danda.

This is our final day on trail and we’ll be leaving Jhinu Danda. We'll follow alongside the Modi Khola River, following a well-marked trail, and reach Birethanti Village after a 4 to 5-hour walk. From Birethanti, our trek continues onward to Nayapul. Afterward, following a narrow and bumpy road, we'll drive back to Pokhara. You'll drop by your hotel, and with this, our Annapurna Base Camp Trek comes to an end.
